Instead of going out drinking, tonight I took a couple of night shots.

Tripod required of course. Amazing to see how many people were out there taking shots as well!

Anyways, here are the pics and info.

C&C welcome as always :)

f/11, 15 sec exposure, ISO 200 at 20mm (using Sigma 10-20)

I like both of them, but I like #2 better with the darker sky.

Man, I want to go back to London in the worst way. Last time I was there I was a kid with no camera!

I'm moving there in just over a week! And to study photography as well! C'est la vie!

Like em both, well done.

Love seeing pics of this area - I got engaged just on the walkway in front of Jubilee gardens in March. Great trip too. London is awesome.

Number 1for me, great shot.

2 is great too, but love the angle of the wheel and lighting on 1, well caught.

You see the big building behind the Eye? I work there. I have to watch the wheel turn every day. Pity me... Or not. ;)

brenz89, you will love London. I take time at lunch to go shoot pictures in random parts of the city and there are always places that surprise me. It's fun!

Very very nice shots, OP. I'm waiting for the days to get shorter so I can try and get night shots without getting home too late. Number 2 works better for me as it is. But I think number 1 could work even better with a slightly longer exposure. Not sure...

#2 works better for me. Both compositional wise and exposure wise.

I would not move into the Eye if I was you. You will get no privacy in one of those pods.

C&C welcome as always :)

The thing that jumps out at me is to suggest making sure your tripod is level, especially with an ultra-wide angle lens. Admittedly it is just a personal dislike of converging parallels, which bothers me but might not be an issue for anyone else.

I agree with the others about the sky not being so nice in the first photo. But there is nothing you can do about that, it is a typical night sky here and most of my night photos look the same. I also like how you have balanced the exposure so the there is the right amount of motion blur which you would not have got at ISO 100.

The second one is my favourite, though. I like the way the colours and shapes of the eye and County Hall balance the photo.

Michael.
