Read a review that really criticised this camera for excessive noise. Is it a problem and can it be overcome by selecting ISO 100? I haven't noticed on mine yet but I've not used it much.

All small compacts suffer from noise at anything above ISO 100.
ISO 200 is better, but 100 and 50 will yield very crsip clean images.

IMO the canon compacts actualy have some of the lowest noise levels for compact cameras.
