Bundaberg and Bonsai - First pics

my first 2 decent pictures since taking up photography as a hobby. both taken with a cheap cheap kodak P & S (upgrading soon thank god..)

both have been through numerous iterations of PS (i'm also new at that) to get to where they are. trying to decide if I like them or not :)

PLEASE PLEASE comment and critique! critiques are one of the best ways of learning for me!

IMO, neither look like they've been through numerous iterations of PS, so that's GOOD! The second one doesn't do much for me, compositionally or subject-wise, but I like the first one.

From what I understand, a good photographer can take a good picture with almost any camera. :D

Yeah I try to keep the photos natural-looking, would you guess that the bundaberg shot is actually a HDR? haha... my camera kept producing washed out crud shots with no colour, so I lightly HDR'ed that one to bring out the colours!

thanks for the feedback, I definitely wouldn't call myself a good photographer yet by a long stretch!
