'72 Plymouth Scamp 406

Dave's Scamp is a car that you don't see many of. Originally a 318, it now has a 406cid crate motor putting out 425bhp. The 727 transmission connects to a Dana 60 3.55 rear end.

He's had it for 4 years & finished it this March. It has the original interior & the candy orange paint job cost $8,500. It looks like a million & he's taken pains to not have to upgrade anything later.
By the end of this year, he expect to have driven it 1,000 miles.

In the first and third picture there's definitely a pole growing out of the car. ;)

But okay, serious now. It are nice pictures. Last one is lacking a bit of contrast IMHO, at least in the tyres. The engineshot would have been much nicer if you would have put a piece of white cardboard under the hood/bonnet. The reflections would have been much nicer then.

Compositions aren't spectacular, at least for me. If you make the pictures from a lower angle it would help for the lines of the car I think.

Seems to me there isn't much you can do in some crowded parking lots. We recently had a car happening "in town". There were so darn many people there that if you

got 4 ft away, there'd be one person in the way

got 8 ft away, there'd be 4 people

got 10 ft....15....

Very nice little car. Put's a whole new twist into Sca........ When you first said 406, before I looked at the engine, I assumed somebody shoehorned a BB into that thing. Back when I owned my 440 sixpack RR, 340 SB Darts, Cudas and Dusters were ALWAYS a big threat. Some of them ran extremely well.


I've always liked cars with a little understatement. Google up "green brick"

Back when I owned my 440 sixpack RR, 340 SB Darts, Cudas and Dusters were ALWAYS a big threat. Not surprising. If I remember right, you were pushing about 3,800# (Detroit's big lie!) while my 383 'Cuda was only 3,050# (Another big lie!) ;) And I don't much care for the hat the guy is wearing in #5 Hey! It almost looks like my rain hat! Makes me want to get working on my '72 Duster. Just make it go! Forget the cool, expensive paint job. Then nobody will park next to you! :D

:lol: Sure! If you've ever seen pics of my truck, you'll know that aesthetics are very important to me. :D The Duster (340 4-speed) is roadworthy. It just needs some restoration, mostly in the paint & body department. ha

I weighed mine once, with about a 1/4 tank of gas, spare tire, and emty trunk. The Exhaust was now headers with short pipes out in front of the tires, and aluminum Edelbrock intake, considerably lighter than the Mopar factory manifolds and iron intake.

Well, I'm not saying that you should carry card board with you, it just makes your photo better. True, it would. And are you saying that when you take pics for free, you don't put as much effort in them as you would if people would pay you for your work ? Yes! Shots at a car show are a very different situation from a paid shoot, & 440roadrunner already pointed that out. Sometimes you have a day show & can't wait for the best light, too.
When you do have the time to wait for the light, & have the option of having the car moved, that's the time to put extra effort into the images:
