I don't usually like to see man made stuff in wildlife images, but I really like your second shot. It works ... nice job!

The sparrow looks like a child at a gumball machine trying to decide which one they hope they get.

I almost thought so, the EOS 20D seems to be a real good camera.
And with a 200mm lens, so you had to be very close to the bird I guess.

Sorry :(
Didn't mean much by it - probably shouldn't have even brought it up. I meant the bird feeder, and I know it was unavoidable under the circumstances. I meant it as a compliment, but it didn't come out right.
In general, I prefer wildlife shots that don't include fences, wires, feeders, etc. Sometimes it's unavoidable to get the shot. I intend to build a "super feeder" like Scottes and Jerry Z have put together ... with natural tree branches attached that the birds will perch on - allowing shots that appear to be in a natural setting.
I just meant that despite the inclusion of a feeder, I still really like the shot.
Clear as mud now, right?

Yep i get you now ;)
Put it this way,if the feeder was'nt there then the birds would'nt come into my garden.I got to attract them some how.Anyway its helping the berdies out with food,i'm just photographing them at the same time :D

Like Jay, I prefer wildlife shots without the "hand of man" being obvious. I struggle for it, and will just about always pass up a shot that contains anything man-made. It's my preference, that's all - I'm certainly not saying what is right or wrong.
In any case, by any preference, this is a beautiful shot. Well done.

:o Yeah, I know ... there's been a mix of health issues and plain 'ole procrastination. Haven't been taking many photos lately either. I've purchased some of the necessary equipment and hope to put something together soon. Thanks for the encouragement ;)
