I am getting ready to set up a smugmug pro account and am wondering if anyone has any codes or other types of "coupons" for saving on the price. Thanks Christian

MODS: If this is in the wrong forum please move it.

so everyone above me is giving you the $5 bucks off. one question: is this your first time subscribing? if so, you can use THIS LINK (http://blogs.smugmug.com/don/2007/07/10/fleeing-yahoo-photos-get-50-off-at-smugmug/) for 50% off! and use zMVvk2Tzay4co if you end up not using the 50% off. have a great day!

Use 'flickr' as your coupon code for 50% off your first year.

Ah bummer...I really wish I knew about the 50 % off coupon code. I found a 30% off coupon code a couple weeks ago when I signed up for my prosmugmug account. bummer. 50% off is a great deal.

how much do you need to know web development wise to create a decent looking website from places like smugmug or exposuremanager? Do they offer tools to create a website, or are they just background tool for managing sales and you have to build your own website around that?

You don't need to know too much, but it helps to understand a little. I set up both of my SmugMug sites using their tutorials and hunting around on their customization forum here: http://www.dgrin.com/forumdisplay.php?f=31

If you get in over your head, there's always people there to bail you out. :)

So is smugmug more like a personal website or more like flickr or photobucket?

Im sick of using PB and actually just set up a flickr account before finding this thread. I didnt even think about Smugmug :(

SmugMug is more customizable and much more robust than Flickr or Photobucket, and you can set it up as a personal website depending on what your expectations are and which level you purchase.

Flickr has a great community and is a good place to host pictures, but there's really no way to customize it.
