Can anyone help with bird identification? I took both pictures in west Phoenix this morning. I thought #1 was a sparrow, but the beak doesn't look right for a sparrow.
The second picture is a Say's Phoebe?
Thanks, Tammie

Sorry, I grabbed the wrong (not resized) #2 image, but can't figure out how to replace it.

Both less than 100kb, so don't worry about it. It's a lot better than people posting 800x600 photos that are a few hundred kb!
Nice birds you shot there, a little soft though.

I agree they are a little soft. Worked on them a little more and they improved some. These were both shot at 400mm with the 100-400L and I was a little nervous. We were in a field and a truck of manure was headed our way.

#1 Looks like a Hermit Thrush

Can't help with what they are . . . but nice catch anyway Tammie. As some know, 'Little Birds' can be tough. They look good to me.

That's what my wife found out doing some research:
#1 ...... American Pipit (Anthus Rubescens)
#2 ...... Say's Phoebe (Sayornis Saya)

Sw2001's wife is correct. I believe #1 is an American Pipit I made a much too hasty id of #1
