Just bought two new lens to go with my new camera purchase this week. As soon as purchasing, drove down to the airport, on a really murky overcast, drizzly day.

Was there only an hour or so, and managed a few alright shots for a beginner to these lens.

The first two shots here, are down with a Sigma 70-300 Super Macro. Only needed a cheap telephoto for the moment. And my only subject in the long range, is aircraft. :p

And this last one is shot with the better lens, the 17-40L. - Bought this lens, as I love doing landscape photography, so thought if I spend large in any area, it should be here. Just waiting for fine weather again, for more sunsets on the West Auckland beaches. ;)

Cheers, :)

Just been around to my grandparents place. The next challenge is to make a mount to fit onto his 10" Meade telescope. He has some great moon shots, with a very basic digital camera he used once! I've now convinced him a DSLR, is the way to go, and he's welcome to make a mount of some sort on his lathe, and trial some astrological shots. :)

There are some great threads around here about useing telescopes, includeing links to details on convertors etc.

Some southern hemisphere star photos might confuse some people around here though :D

All nice shots. That wide shot of the Emirates is very nice...really accents the size of the plane (and the engines).

:-) :-). Look forward to seeing some pictures of southern skies soon !

Yes, the A340-500 truely is large. I was so excited it came down taxiway Bravo - the closest taxi way. It's probably about 100metres from the fence. That one was shot at about 27/28mm. Didn't even need to go down to 17mm ;)
Maybe the A380 will get a even wider angle from that position. :D

Emirates I've heard are also flying 777-300s here, in a month or so. Should be interesting.

Very good pics. Aircraft is one of my favorite subjects to photograph.
