hello, wanted to know which compact flash cards are the fastest? i'm not sure if it's the CF card but everytime my camera goes into the sleep mode i have to wait a few seconds to wake up the camera. is it the camera or the CF card or is there something i can adjust on the digital rebel?

it's annoying to have to wake the camera up just so i can shoot something. by the time it wakes up i might have missed the shot.

First of all, your camera can get the good out of just a little speed in the CF card, but it cannot get the good out of a super fast one. I would not say that it is stupid to purchase a super fast CF card, but you may migrate it later to a faster camera where its speed may be more fully utilized.

Your wake-up time issues are camera related and have nothing to do with your CF card. I suggest setting the go-to-sleep time to 30 mins if you're in a mode where you might miss a shot.

Check out this site (http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/multi_page.asp?cid=6007). The only reason to get a fast card is to speed transfers to the computer, and even then only if you're using a USB 2.0 card reader. The 20D does take advantage of faster cards.

really? does it matter to have a fast card inside the camera make a difference when u r taking pics? someone told me that once...i don't need it to be that fast from a card reader when uploading to my PC.

i'll have to check out that site.

Any card that's not complete crap will be fine - if you spend a lot for the fastest card it won't go any faster in the rebel. The only time it'll make a difference is downloading to your PC, or if you upgrade your camera.

There is an excellent link to a test done by rob galbraith (sp?) who tested a ton of cards
It shows very well what difference certain speed cards make to the rebelIt may not list the very fastet but it sure is usefull!
I'll find the link

You won't get as much benefit from a faster card in the DR as you would in a 20D, but if you shoot bursts, it will improve your recovery time between bursts (this also applies to exposure bracketing).

ic, then i'll just stick with what i got...unless i upgrade my camera...which i doubt will happen anytime in the near future.
