Lot's of info can be obtained on Giclee printing just by doing a Google search. Here is one informative website:

You're right mphoto, but Rad wouldn't have found it if he was searching for Gilcee instead of Giclee......

Believe it or not, if you enter "Gilcee printing" in a google search, it comes back with "Did you mean: Giclee printing "
So Google actually saves us from ourselves :)

Giclee is just fancy word for INKJET.
Before I bought a limited edition Giclee, I spend a lot of time researching it.
There are oil based Giclee, which if hand embelished are worth more. If not hand embelished then it is just a print as far as I am concerned a very good one, but just a print. The process uses (or used to use) something called an IRIS printer, which instead of dye based inks uses oils. And they use laser scanners for getting high-resolution 3D data on the original.
There are dye based Giclee which use a process very similiar to what my Canon i9900 does, only someone pays a lot for Art that is a giclee and not much for an inkjet print.
Just my research, as mentioned, find more on Google.

It's just an inkjet print.
Marketers found years ago that people would not buy Horsehead Macarel. At least, they bought more if it was called Tuna.

It may be an inkjet, but they can print much, much bigger than most inkjets we ever deal with -- and they can print on some pretty interesting things, like canvas. Haven't looked at Giclee for over a year, but at that time they could do some beautiful, large, fine art prints that made a photo look somewhere between a photo and a painting. Just my $0.02. It may use inkjet technology, but the final product was more interesting than that!
