Great day at the range and what better way to spend your 22nd BD!!
Congrats!

I personally love the XD... great gun. I used to have both the 40 sub and the 40 service. Got rid of the sub (though I wished I hadn't) and replaced it with a taurus snub 357 (it was lighter and easier to carry around). Kept the service though (like I said I love my XD :-) ).

Got to get on photo 6 of the fellow in the orange. Looks like he is closing his eyes either before or just after he fires.

what shutter speed were you using? would of been nice to get some of the bullet leaving the barrel!

Great pics!

yeah, I we all have been on him about it. It was after he shot. No biggie. I just caught him when he blinked. I was shooting at 1/1000. I have tried to get a bullet coming out of any gun and just can't seemed to do it. That would be a great shot if someone did it!

Try using a flash to freeze the motion.

And it's not just closing his eyes that the kid in orange needs to work on, his stance is terrible.

Some nice photos for sure. I have some of them firearms myself.

Lol yeah, I was more concerned about the closing of the eyes though. You can move out of a bad stance (and really should be moving off the "x" anyway if he was training for real life - of course a person needs to learn to shoot first before heading into that area of training), but can't do much if you can't see lol.

Lol, I've tried to as well and can't seem to do it. Maybe a flash will help.

his excuse was he was right eye dominate. He said his left eye was open. Which could in fact be true. Who knows. It was a fun b'day experience though. that .50 cal was amazing!

He must mean LEFT eye dominate lol... and he should be keeping both eyes open anyway! Tell him NO EXCUSES! lol.

when you said 50 cal I was looking back through the pics for a barrett I might have missed!... until I realized you were referring to the desert eagle lol.

first couple of pictures I used my kit lens then I switch to my 75-300mm and stayed at 75mm for the rest of the shots.

Just blind luck helps a lot.

Nice shots (no pun intended) Mark, I can see the streaks. What shutter speed? Have you ever caught one with the bullet frozen in mid air? On a side note that is some hellacious muzzle flash in the first pic LOL!

Thanks. I didn't mean to hi-jack the thread.

I have seen someone that caught a bullet in flight that was still a "streak" but it was all in frame. Those things move pretty fast... Even with my XT's max shutter speed, I don't think I could catch a clear shot of the round.

Happy B-day!!

I've seen shots over at arf that managed to capture the streaks within frame. As I recall they were using a flash, a camera with a pretty fast frame rate and lots of trial and error.
