Hello

After I did a big shoot the other weekend i have noticed since then the lens is having focusing problems and is producing soft and out of focus images at 200mm++, and it is becoming a little stiff in this region and isn’t very smooth, is there any thing I can do to fix this, I don’t have time to take the lens in to be fixed as I have every weekend booked up for over a month.

The lens is a 90-300 USM

Cheers
Shane J

I think if your work depends on it you should hire yourself a working lens and send that one in to be repaired. Everyone will be upset if the photos are out of focus.

Your bigger local camera shops may be willing to "rent" you a lens for a day. I am from Canada, so I cannot help you out with specifics, but a couple of the bigger stores in my area rent lenses but don't really advertise that they do. Check into it, you might be surprised what you find.....

If you're charging for your photography you owe it to your clients and your reputation to have a known working lens. If you don't want to duplicate your lens, get a reasonable alternative. Maybe the 70-200 f/4 L or the Sigma 70-200. If you need to reach to 300, the 100-400 L or, on a tight budget, the 75-300 or 70-300 DO. But make sure you have a good lens before the next time you go out. You can't afford not to if you want to stay in the game.
