I have a D30 that I have used fine for about a year, with several different lenses. I recently purchased a Sigma 17-35ex lens and it seemed to work fine. But today, I put in on the camera and the AF would not work, it was if the focus motor were not even being powered. I tried reseating the lens with no luck. I then passed the lens to my buddy with a Canon EOS3 body and it worked just great, autofocus was swift and accurate. I then put the lens back on my camera and NOW it worked. After taking several shots I put the camera down and did not come back to it until several hours later. When I picked the camera up again, the lens would no longer autofocus. Anyone have any similar experiences with either the D30 or the Sigma lens?

I have the same lens and it stopped working on my D60, I returned it to Sigma and found it had a defective HSM motor. Sigma replaced for free which was great since I had purchased the lens used.

I had the same problem. The lense would still work on a D60 and Canon film cameras. I traded it in for a Canon 28-135. Problem solved.
