Folks,
Apologies if this a dumb question, but I find the Canon Image Gateway a useful way to share photos and the website keeps mentioning the Zoom Broswer EZ - where do I get this from - I assume it would make life a lot easier? It wasn't with the camera and all you can get from the site is updates.
Tx.

I don't think you can buy it, it comes with some Canon cameras. I'm sure there are other image viewing programs that do similar things.

I'm sure you are right that it comes with some Canon cameras - but why not my 20D???
I was assuming that it would make loading stuff to the Canon Image Gateway straightforward, whereas other image viewers would not - but happy to be corrected!
Alun.

Not so EeeZee... it's "EX":
Canon ZoomBrowser EX version 4.6.135 ©1996-2004
is on the CD-ROM included in the 20D, bought one month agao.
It comes with every Canon digital camera, anyway. ;)

Does it - which CD - or part of which program - I suspected I was asking a dull question!

Thanks Planet-Ed, but that is the update - you need an original for it to update
And glad that someone else with a 20D can't find it - I don't feel so persecuted. Maybe Pierrot can shed some light.

Dammit, you're right! It's not included in the EOS software package. I'm wondering where mine does come from...
Maybe it was packed with my G5? But all I can find on my hard disk is the Updater module, you're right again. I don't know where my original G5 CDs are now, but I always copy drivers and utilities on a hard disk, so it is like I have nothing else. Anyway, it works and updates itself.
I don't want to uninstall everything "just to see" if I can reinstall the whole stuff again. Did you try to install this updater alone ? It may simply install as an add-on to regular Canon SW ? ;)

Pierrot,
Thanks for your perseverance - I tried installing the updater, but it wasn't having it! It seems amazing that Canon make this so difficult to get hold of!
Anyone else can help!
Cheers,
Alun.

I found my source back : it was enclosed on the Canon Photo Solutions Disc v1.10 which came with my former G3 (sounds like I've had their whole range, uh?)
Did you try this one? I just found it on Canon web site:
http://software.canon-europe.com/software/zoombrowser_ex_updater_ens20940.asp?model=PowerSho t%20G3
It's also called an updater, but give it a try. Should we have a ftp server here, I could upload it for who wants...

Just a quick note to chime in. Zoom Browser EX came with my Digital Rebel, so I have it on my PC. It will NOT recogize the 20d to acquire the images from it!!! It is incompatible I guess! As long as the images are already on your PC, I'm sure the rest of the program functions will work fine! Good luck... just wanted to give you my take on your problem!

Thanks Photojunky,
Then which s/w are 20D owners suppose to use to transfer their photos to PC, other than connecting the camera directly or using 3rd party s/w.

ZoomBrowser may it rest in peace was full of software conflicts. If you are using a card reader, you can use any one of a number of programs to transfer your pictures, including Windows Explorer and EOS Viewer Utility. You don't need to see the pictures to transfer the files.

Thanks to all......but Pierrot, the download is just the update. Scott is dead right that Windows Explorer, etc. will move your photos............however, I am still after something to make uploading my photos to the Canon Image Gateway easier! And that is all I want Zoom Browser for -no more and no less. Looks like I'm not going to be able to do that.......unless there's any more bright ideas? What's the best way to contact Canon on this?

The 20D came with EVU and DPP. I believe that ZB still comes with their P/S models. You could get one of those ;{)#

Thanks Scott,
Didn't know one can use EOS Viewer Utility to transfer photos. Currently using ACDsee 7.0 but don't like it much because you can't name files.

The answer from Canon...................."Thank you for your recent enquiry regarding your Canon product. The ZoomBrowser application is not compatible with the EOS-20D. We hope this information is of use to you."

I still use Zoombrowser (received with DRebel purchase) to download images from my 20D ... but only using a card reader, not a direct attachment. I've been shooting mostly JPEG, however, and I don't recall if it works with RAW.
