I've checked all the posts and these two seem awfully similar. I note that the 190XPROB has the horizontal arm. Is there a strong benefit to this feature over the reversable center post?

This will be my first upgrade to a tripod the most I've spent previously is $49 for a Slik.

I want a tripod to use to take macro photos in my garden, and of flowers. Both of these will get down near ground level. I will also need to use it for landscape and taking photos of quilts in my studio.

I've chosen the 488RC2 ballhead.

Thanks for your comments on these two.

There's a review of the 055 in the Sticky (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=53864), which shows use of the horizontal center post.
