It was dark. Very, very dark. The ambient light was 1/100s, f/1.8 at 3200ASA. Hmmm. So nasty direct flash was called for otherwise no pics for the paper. Here's what I got...

...and believe it or not I used an 85mm f/1.8 for those!

Oh yes... and here's the venue... overexposed by a stop or two so you can see it!

Good shots under those conditions. What kind of flash set up were you using?

I had to compromise... so I shot at ISO1600, 1/250s at f/1.8 using the flash at 1/16 manual power. I still wanted to show some ambient light to prevent the flash overpowering the image. I also used a Stofen diffuser on the gun to soften the light a little as well.

On-camera flash is dire in these circumstances - but I had to make the best of a bad job!

wow, not a white wall in the building and even with the shot overexposed a couple stops the 'lights'-if thats what you want to call them, dont even catch my eye. this is the dungeon of all dungeons. i think the pics look really really good considering. thanx for the info on the flash settings and what not...just pasted it to my flash info file for when i need to resort to an on camera. good work gavin!

Great, pic.s Gmen. I raly like shot #2. The expression on the ball handler's face tells you alot about the defender. Like, "I got you, so let me thru." What a dungeon, It's really dark in there. I hope I can do so well, some day.

Thanks Zamora!

I hope I don't get too many more jobs there though!
