I want to know how to setup time on the camera and take the picture by itself. I mean I want to setup the time and want to take a picture by putting a camera on a shelf and let it take the picture.

... do you meant time-lapse intervals? or setting the camera like an alarm clock?

Or are you referring to the self-timer, where you aim the camera, press the shutter and walk into the picture, then 10" later the camera trips the shutter?

And what camera are you using? It'll be slightly different in different models.
