Hey, folks. I ordered a Sigma EF500 flash, it should get here on Tuesday. However, not knowing too much about using an external flash off-camera, I was unsure what kind of sync cord I'd need to connect it to my 300D, if any. I'd like to have more than 9 feet of cord if possible.
Is it possible to fire the EF500 wirelessly, using the built-in flash on the 300D?
Any suggestions on what I should look for, or if it's even necessary?
Thanks in advance.

The only cord that maintains ETTL is the Canon Off The Shoe Cord 2.
You cannot use the internal flash as a wireless master. You need a 550EX, 580EX or STE2 or Sigma 500DG Super.

Gah. I should have been more specific... I did order the Sigma 500 DG Super. So that's good news? :)
Thanks for the heads-up.

That cord's really short, almost useless for anything except a flash bracket, I think. I'd love a longer cable, but I don't want to have to hack the cable apart and extend it.

Yeah, that's something I think I'm going to have to do without for quite some time... would be an interesting project for the summer, though.

Some people have cut the cord in half and purchased male/female connector and cable with the correct number of wires to extend it.
