I went to Motorama today - a classic car & bike show & thought this bike had a nice look. The owner wasn't anywhere around, so no details.
ISO 100, 2.5 sec @ f-13

Update: For sale.
This Black Beauty is for sale. Mike sent me some info &, since we have some Michigan members, I thought I'd post it here.

You must have a nearly perfect eye for exposure, a totaly matt black bike with lots of chrome would creat quite a challange, and you have captured it perfectly!

Thank's Moppie! But...um... that's not true. :o I first shot a white sheet of paper to get a histogram not influenced by the ceiling lights. That gave me the primary exposure. Then tweaked the exposure in the RAW conversion & used a lighter exposure in screen mode in PS to bring out the chrome.
I've put a tut in "Talk About Photography" that might explain why I used the paper to get the exposure. (I learned something from that!). ;)

I'm glad you liked the bike, though!

Very good tut, I had a read, Iv nearly always shot in manual for the reasons you noted, the cameras meter is to easily confused by things like black cars, or strange lighting at car shows.
But Ill now look at doing a custom white balance as well, it clearly has quite an impact on exposure.
I would love to be able to shoot RAW though, although I would still need your eye for exposure to get that level of quality out of a raw image :)

I think I'd be lost without RAW! It would be like shooting with a 'paper meter'!
I just updated the tut with a 'before' pic & a different version of this one. Take a look.

Nice work as usual Frank ! I skipped the Motorama this year. Hard to get any good shots with all the ropes around everything, plus they only have Harley's there :)

Hey Kirk! I almost missed it - saw an ad while I was marathon watching the first 12 hours of the Daytona 24-hour Sat nite. Then I almost skipped it too. Knew the lighting would be poor & the cars too close together. At the last minute I went - very few good cars & I only took 4 pics. I'll probably skip it next year, too. ;-(
