There are several ways. Open both images. Use whatever "select" tool you like (lasso, magic wand, or whatever they call the square/oval shape thing) to pick the area you want to copy in the first image. Once selected, you could switch to the "move" tool and drag and drop it on the other image. Or use "Ctrl C" to copy and "Ctrl V" to paste. Or use the "copy" and "paste" commands under the Edit menu.

No, I'm using windows. I did get the image lasso'd. Still trying to move it.

Rather than cut and paste, try the following. Open both images and using the move tool, drag the one with the bit you want to paste over the other one. You then end up with an image with two layers, but you can only see the top one. Keeping the top layer active, make a selection of the bit you want to cut out (lasso, pen tool etc) , feather the selection by a pixel or two, invert the selection and then pick make vector mask (one of the icons at the bottom of the layers pallet). Hey presto.
It sounds a complex way of doing it but if you keep both layers intact and use a mask to clip bits out, you can always go back and edit it, especially if you use a pen path as a selection and save that path.
