Tried for a while to get a decent water drop shot. Still a long way from perfect, but this is the best I got from a recent attempt.

C & C welcome.

Hey robonrome,
What I normally do is get the drop going steady, dress the background or put filters under the glass container to give it some color. Plastic colored sheets are great. I then have like a pointer, I use either a chop stick with a red or contrast end, usually painted on or I use a dayglow colored tape. I then put that right under the drop whilst setting focus on the camera. I noted your shot is a bit soft. If you can find some soft lights, I use a couple of small halogen bulbs on wires to give some light from the sides and also have a flash gun on the scene.

Personally I also shoot from a lower angle. My drops are normally shot with a Tamron f2.8 90mm Di Macro prime lens.

Nice effort, keep at it. look forward to seeing another one.

Cheers,
Mark.

Thanks All,

and Mark, thanks very much for the tips below, this is great. I will definitely try these techniques - I had wondered how best to give my water some colour.:D
