The Algoway freighter had a load of salt to bring in but wouldn't come through channel because of the wind and waves. Here's some shots of it off the shore of Manistee MI on 9/03/08.

3, 5 & 8 are my favorites, it looks like those last ones were taken in some pretty miserable conditions though!

#8 is just a winner all around! I like how you have so many different temps of light in the shot. and it shows pretty well how impressively huge the ship is!

Great series there. I did not know there were still any commercial fishing tugs running on Lake Michigain (4th frame). The black and white and night shots are my favorites.

Number 3 is my favorite I think the B&W sets the picture off.

the only thing about #3 is I wish that one wave was a little lower... or off to one side, cause at first glance you can't tell that the bow and stern are connected

The lights in the rain on the last 2 really set the photo off for me. Very cool.

Excellent series. You followed the whole cycle, which is pretty impressive in itself. But how did you know it was salt and what he was doing?

No. 3 is a nice shot! No. 2 gives that feeling of the many years I spent at sea. Thank you for posting these, I enjoyed them a lot.

I really like #3, the black and white looks very nice. I don't know why but I've been converting several photos to b & w lately, had never done that until recently. Some photos just really look better converted I'm finding out.

Yeah it was a steady rain but the wind was the only bad thing since I had a covered shelter to set up under.

the only thing about #3 is I wish that one wave was a little lower... or off to one side, cause at first glance you can't tell that the bow and stern are connected

I took a few at different angles. Here is one that isn't so low to the water and I left some color in this one though.

There was a heads up on the boatnerd site plus you can see what's being unloaded at the dock. It's salt for the roads in the winter.

That is a good place with lots of info about the freighters.
