Just got this in today. Looks like another fun toy. In a nutshell, is there a way to set this for the F-stop rather than the TV? Playing around with it, I can see how to set the TV and it gives you the F-stop, but suppose I wanted to shoot at a different F-Stop and let the meter figure out the speed?

Thanks,

EB

humm.... first time I've heard the L358 called a fun toy, but anyway - did you not get a manual with it?

The mode is changed by holding down the 'mode' button and rotating the wheel until the desired mode is selected. The available modes will be dependant on how you've set the the dip switches.

Press the mode button and rotate the jog wheel until the mode changes. Typically you use the meter by setting the ISO and shutter speed to the same values as your camera but not exceeding the maximum shutter sync speed. Then, when you take a reading it will display the correct aperture for those settings.

Example: If you want to shoot at ISO 100 and at a shutter speed of 1/125s, you press the measure button and it will display the aperture to dial in to your camera for correct exposure.

Yep, I did get a manual. For a rookie, it is hard to understand. Thanks to everyone for thier replies.

Here's a one page tutorial I found (with pertinent pics) yesterday on the web. It won't tell you all the ins and outs, but what it does tell you will at least be a starting point of usability and it seems easy to follow. Best of luck. I may be joining you one day, I'm anticipating getting this meter or the L-558. Adorama has the PW adapter for about $49 if IIRC so I think either unit could be an option unless the L-558 has other options that really matter beyond the PW wireless flash control.
