Just sent my Sigma 170-500mm lens to them today for re-chipping. Does anybody know about how long it takes to get it back? I got it for a good deal on e-bay but when I tried to use it all it did was give me an err 99 on the display.

I once had the same lens, but the autofocus completely failed when the lens was less than a month old. I called Sigma, sent it in for warranty repair, and got it back. From what I could tell, they had it for less than 48 hours in all. Incidentally, they claimed that they upgraded the firmware, not repaired anything. Oh, well.
Later, the same lens completely failed again the same way. I called Sigma, sent it in for warranty repair, and got it back. Again, it seemed like they had it for less than 48 hours. Again, they claimed that they upgraded the firmware, not repaired anything.
It was soon after that, and as a result of those kinds of claims, when I unloaded the lens.

Well now this is what I call Fast I got my lens back today and I think they just sent a new lens casue this one zooms smoother than the one I sent them. I give Sigma a thumbs up for great service and very fast.

Sigma has some pretty good customer service. I had a few pieces of glass from sigma like half a year ago before i sold them to buy Canon glass, but the service was always prompt and they often sent me new glass instead of repairing, and then i guess they would sell the one i sent as refirbished later down the road. Good deal :P

here in oz, i had to take my bigma in for service (an internal mount screw came out). they fixed it, calibrated it (i'm not sure what that involved??), and had it back to me in 2 1/2 days.
unfortunately i do not know about the time it takes for re-chipping...

I had mine re-chipped (that is what I sent it in for) and had it back in 9 days took 3 days to get to them 3 days back to me so they had it for a max of 3 days. I still think they sent me back a different lens then what I sent them this lens feels like new.
