I photographed this water wheel at Berry College Campus in Rome, GA. The campus is very beautiful with plenty of photo opps. I would appreciate critique on this one if you would.

This is one of the most naturally beautiful and charming scenes that I have seen in a long time.
The perspective chosen makes the image very 3-dimensional -
...Look at the tunnel through which the effluent flows - see how it has both a front and a back end.
...Look at how the rising hill behind the mill separates the background from the middle and foreground.
...Look at how the lower level of ground in the foreground and the trees help to separate the foreground from the middle ground.
The exposure is letter perfect, and the lighting is very diffuse. This allows there to be a lot of local contrast throughout the middle tones throughout the image. Look at the histogram that shows how most of the detail is in the lower-middle and middle tones with no problems in the extreme highlights and deepest shadows.
My only concern is that it looks a little over-sharpened.
Congratulations!

Thank you for the kind comments, Bob. And, I think you are correct concerning the sharpening. I had shapened it a bit more than normal for priniting purposes because the prinited image seemed to display better that way. I wonder (just throwing this question out to anyone who might field it), do photogs often edit and save a copy for printing purposes and another for display via monitor? Anyone? Anyone?

Mark

Dear Mark,
I think you will find that the larger concern is whether you are preparing for the Web or preparing for printing - each of those should have its own workflow, starting with the appropriate color space.
