What's the purpose of tilt/shift? Looks like something you could easily do with PS.

i like how tilt shifts make things look like they are miniature models.

As a photographer I find it an interesting effect... as a motorsport fan it doesn't do it for me.

I just saw some examples on the internet so i don't know if i'm 100% correct but i think the idea is to make stuff look like miniature models. Like those little train models.

actually a tilt shift lens is a specialized lens that mimics the movements of a view camera, which is actually used to correct perspectives in architecture, as well as selective focus on a plane (which can give the miniature look).
