Hi Everyone. I am new to the forum and recently purchased a Canon SD870IS. I have been looking around on here and I am just wondering a few things.

1. I am not very educated on photography. Should I leave the settings on AUTO? Or, should any of them be tweaked a little bit?

2. I have read on here that P&S cameras work better without the flash. So, how do I take good pictures indoors? Use the flash, or is there a better way?

3. I have heard that I should take pictures on the largest setting and then resize them with my PC. Any suggestions?

I am really looking forward to learning more about photography and any great information that I can find on here. Thanks...

There's not much in the way of manual adjustments you can make. You can tweak the white balance and exposure, but other than that all you have is some scene modes and some creative colour modes.

I'd stick with the flash on if possible to avoid camera shake showing up. Either that or use a tripod

I would make more sense to take the largest pictures you can then re-size or crop from there. The smaller your original pictures, the less room you'll have to play with before seriously affecting the quality of it. (ie. it always looks better to shrink down a big picture, than to blow up a small one)
