Salton Sea, CA
Saturday was a very grey and yucky day. I drove around a lot but really didn't get many shots and was kinda bummed about it. As it got later in the day I headed over to the Salton Sea. You can almost always get good sunset shots there. I was worried that because it had been so grey all day that the sunset would be blah. But to my surprise, as the sun set the sky really began to colour-up .. but I wasn't in the best spot!
The first pic is of Red Hill - I was on the back side of that hill for the sunset and the shots were kinda boring over there. So I drove like a maniac back towards the main road. Stopping a couple of times to jump out, take a few shots, and get back in to drive towards the "egret tree". I did make it in time and caught a couple changes in the colouring. These are them, and man was I surprised when I got home and looked at them!

Finally, it looks like my buddy, the elusive Peregrine Falcon, is sitting in the tree too. I've seen him there before, in the daylight, sitting in the tree or on the phone pole. I just thought his silhouette looked very cool.
