These are well done, good job. I think you have a good eye for subjects and arrangement but I think your choice of lenses is limiting you in what you find on the streets. The compression from your telephoto works well in shots like #4 but I'd contend that the other shots would be more engaging if shot with a wide angle lens. The isolation of the subjects with a long lens doesn't show the environment or city as a wide angle might.

It's funny you say that - I often choose to use the 135L exactly because of the fact of the separation from the background it gives. I love the sense of business given by the blurred crowd in the background separate from the singular focus of the subject - much like real life, we go on about our chores and daily lives despite those of the others around us. I find I use my fisheye less and less due to the impersonal perspective it offers. You'll see that I used it here only for #5 where I wanted to show the incredible vaulted ceiling of the thoroughfare.

I guess it's an issue of each to his own - I often choose my 135 over the 24-70 for the exact reasons you argue against it.

I'm glad you liked the photos on a whole, I appreciate you taking the time to comment.

Cheers,
Andrew

I like all the photo's Andrew, I've been following your trip through Austria and look forward to more of your work.

As an Austrian ex-pat, it reminds me of the places I've visited as well.

Keep up the good work.

My fave is probably number 4. I can just imagine - "Why did I bother moving from Vancouver?".... :)
