I don't drive this thing enough and its been off the road for the last year or so because I've been too busy getting my new business up & running - but hope to have it out & about sometime soon.....

Taken last year with my cheap & cheerful point & shoot - I know the quality isn't great but I was quite pleased with the results for such a cheap camera.

Now I have a DSLR I hope to get some nice shots of it once I'm used to a proper camera.

These are exactly as they came off the camera.....comments and feedback appreciated.

I kind of like the light on it in 3 & 4, but where's the freakin' door?

Thanks for the comments.

The doors slide electrically down into the sill area (you can see the depth of the sill in photo #2) - the cool thing is you can drive it with the doors down.....and if it gets a bit windy you just flick a lever and they rise up along with the window.

Here is a comparison shot with the door down VS up.

When the door is up the electric windows work as per normal car. They also have a memory, so if the window is half down when you open the door, it comes back to that position when you put the door back up.

If I get chance I'll get out to the garage and take a quick video of the door in action. Looks GREAT when opening/closing!

The Z1 is the coolest of the Z series. My brother in law has one. And my bos had one, and another good friend of mine has one.

I took some photos of one the other day too.

Hope I can link them here.

Cool as! Over here in the UK there are very few of them (around 100 in total) which makes them a pretty rare sight on the roads. I've only ever seen one other except when I've met up with a few fellow Z1 owners. Photo below of when I met up with two other Z1 fanatics last year.

I'd love to visit one of the big German Zed meets sometime....seeing so many of them will probably make me collapse!

I took some photos of one the other day too.

Hope I can link them here.
Feel free - I can never tire of looking at Z1 pics. How a 20year old car can still look so fresh and modern is amazing.

Lovely shot you've taken there of your friends....I can't wait to get some good/proper shots of mine to do it some justice.

Looking forward to seeing some more of your images.

not a fan of the wheels (never really liked the newer alpina rims) but the car is sweet and some nice angles but its hard shooting INTO the sun (for the front) ;)

To each their own on the Z1 for sure. I've seen one driving down 40 in Raleigh a few years ago, had no clue what it was......and at that time I was on my 1st year of working on BMW's. I'm now a Master BMW tech, and glad I've never seen one in the shop.

doors fold down into the car. OK, notice the black hole in the nice highlights in the side in 1 & 3-5 with the doors down? Think about that.

Aha!!

I'll have to keep you in suspense a little longer - which I know is mean after all the wait already, but it's pretty late here in wet & windy England and I need some sleep!

I'll get you some info on the car tomorrow....with some pretty nice 'facts' that'll make you see these cars in a new light.

Before I go I'll tell you this: I know that the Z1 originally owned by Eddie Ervine himself is currently for sale! Wish I could afford it myself....I'd love to own one of these amazing cars that had been previously owned by someone like him

No different then driving in a golf cart or a Jeep with the doors off. Just wear the seatbelt.

I was amazed for a moment and thought they didn't come with doors. Wow...

never thought bmw invented this. Is it automatic?? Can't imagine when if the doors are jammed and it starts to rain, hahahahah....
