Hi guys.

I live in Manchester, UK. I have a Canon Ixus 850is that has broken 3 months out of warranty!!!!!!

Canon aren't interested, and the shop I bought from don't want to know either!

Basically, I think it is a problem with a motor on the lens. It won't return fully in when turned off, and can only partially focus. An error message on screen states Lens Error (duh!).

Can anyone recommend somewhere local to Manchester that might be able to fix it?

Would it be worth trying Jessops or somebody like that??

Any help / advice would be appreciated!!!

Thanks in advance.......

What do you mean 'Canon aren't interested'? If you're looking for somewhere which will fix it for free, then you'll be having a rather hard time. But I'm sure Canon would fix it, provided you're willing to cough up the cash.

Thanks for the reply - I was hoping they would offer something seeing though I am only just out of Warranty, having just bought a 450D and been a loyal customer for a few years now.

But, no, I don't mind paying, all they did was refer me to a contracted repair specialist, that is about 50 / 60 miles away!!!!!

I don't mind paying, but I was hoping for someone a little closer that I could drop the camera off with!

Ps - off to Sydney for New Year this year, want my 850 sorted for nights out, but taking the 450D for the day!!!!!

Hey, I'm in Sydney. :D There are some great photographic opportunities, so definitely bring your 450D (and any wide-angle lenses you may have).

I get what you mean now. Unfortunately I'm not a local there so hopefully someone else can help you out with that!
