Still debating with the SD870IS..please help!

Hi everyone,

I really need help figuring out if I should get the 870 or the 1100.

I have read every single post on both of these camaras.. on this site... and have been mostly debating on whether or not I need the wide angle lens.
- I know it is better for landscapes and such.. but does it sacrifice for up close, human posing pics? For me, I take pictures of both people and natural scenary.. since I am not one or the other, which one would you all suggest I get. Is it also true that wide angle lens offer more detailed pictures?
-Also, am I really benefiting much with the more rapid snapshot (with the 870)?
-In regards to the larger lcd and lack of viewfinder.. i don't really mind


The price difference right now is around $ 50-60.. and whether this difference is worth it is stilll up in the air.

I will be going to Africa and will need this camara within this week. Please give me your honest opinion!

The 870's got quite enough at the long end for portrait-type photos, unless you want to zoom in on people and take candids from a significant distance. For that matter, if you photograph small groups indoors (where you can't back up very far) the wide angle will also help.
