Hello there!

I have a Film Rebel XS with 3 lenses:

•*CANON ZOOM LENS EF 28-105 MM 1:3.5 - 4.5 Ultrasonic.
•*CANON ZOOM LENS EF 75-300 MM 1:4 - 5.6 Ultrasonic.
• CANON ZOOM LENS EF 35-80 MM 1:4 - 5.6 III (The ones that comes with the rebel xs)

And since I buy my S70, I love the digital world, and now I'm thinking to buy a 20D, in a trip I will be doing to Miami, in a few weeks.

So, my question is:

DOES THIS LENSES WORK FINE WITH THE 20D? mainly the 28-105 and the 75-300?

THANKS in advance for your answers!

Cheers! ;)

Another question, are this lenses good enough?
Thinking that photography its just a hobbie for me and not a way for living.

thanks again!

Only you can determine if your lenses are good enough.

I know one pro who sold all his expensive "L" zoom lenses because they did not meet his sharpness standards. He went to only using prime lenses. Note that he only shoots from a tripod using a remote release and usually mirror lockup and specializes in making very big enlargements.

Many other people are happy with the lenses you have. You have to decide for yourself what you want from your photos. If you photos show distortion or are not sharp enough you first have to determine whether your techique is the cause of the problem. After you've learned to shoot from a tripod you may find you will be upgrading lenses if you need sharper prints for big enlargements.

You are right ScottE, thanks for your comment! I never have problem with this lenses in my Rebel XS, so I spect I will not in the 20D. Thanks.

I have a 20D and also the 75-300 USM lens (bought in 1997 for my EOS500).
The lens works fine, but wide open, it isn't very sharp.
After some experiments, I found that it is sharpest when stopped down to about f/10 or f/11. (example see the duck in here (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=57060))

Interesting...I've got the 75-300/20D as well. I've noticed that the sharpness wasn't always there. I'll have to try that tonight!

If you want to take pictures at f/10-11, you better do it during the day

Best regards,
Andy

I found it out at about 11pm

tripod, timer, MLU, shot a ruler at every aperture the lens was capable, that got me around 16 pictures and compared them.
