OK folks I know this is not what we all wanted to hear but...

I heard that Nikon was doing a buyout of Canon inc. !!! this is HUGE News! no wonder Nikon appeared to be gaining in the market. they were using canon tech.... oh wait that doesn't make sense...

well you heard it hear first... or second.

here are my sources: check them out for yourself! :)

I had an older gentleman go out of his way to come over near me where he could ask what I was shooting...

Him - "So, What you shootin' ?"
Me - "A Canon 20D with a Sigma 70-200 2.8"
Him - "Pretty nice. I have that lens for my camera."
Me - "Yes, it is a nice lens... So, what do you shoot."
Him - "You know, I heard that Nikon is buying Canon"
Me - "So you must shoot a Nikon."
Him - "Yeah..."
Me - "That's ok, my Father is a Nikonian, no hard feelings..."
Him - (Laughing) "I'll let you get back to work."
Me - "Have a nice day!"
Him - "You too."

Its on the internet now, it must be true.

LOL yeah well... nobody said it had to make sense to be a rumor... LOL but you do have a good point on that... hmmmm. maybe the rumor is to make people not suspect that the opposite is about to take place :GASP!: now that is conspiritorial!

Then all we'd get it the dreaded blue screen of death. Now if Apple bought Canon, that would be good!

iPhone interface on an EOS body! Who wants to start that rumor!?

No, everyone is wrong. In fact Apple is going to buy out Canon, and they're going to use OS software with itunes and photobooth only. I know I've wanted the swirl effect in camera for years. Should flip the photography industry over on its head, more so than the digital revolution ;)

they could combine the names
CANON | NIKON
CAN | ON
then they would be "CANON"
Maybe google will buy them then you could find the local Starbucks with your Canon 3D MKIII.
And all of your images would immediately be available to download for free...

If Apple acquires Canon all the new range of SLRs will be white, glossy, with a single dial control, HD LCD, heaphones, and called iShoot.

On the other hand if Apple acquires Nikon it will simply be called iWank.

How about Kwanon.:D
Actually Canons first camera, had a Nikon lens!;)

"Release of "Hansa Canon (Standard Model)," the First Canon Camera

In spite of the intensive trial and efforts made to commercialize the "Kwanon" camera, Precision Optical Instruments Laboratory still had no prospects to procure lenses and rangefinders, essential components of a camera. After agonizing deliberations, the laboratory decided to elicit cooperation from Nippon Kogaku Kogyo (Japan Optical Industries, Inc., the predecessor of Nikon Corporation) to use their Nikkor lens." This is from the Canon website.

now there is a good interpretation! LOL nobody should be surprised though! there are a lot of people who buy the products of their competitor because they know how bad their own product is! that is why many companies offer 'employee discounts' so that their employees will buy the product...

oh and just for the record... I do support the company that I work for! because I feel they have an excellent product!
