i have a XTI and my friend gave me an Olympus T-20 flash. Is there anything i can do with this flash? Is it compatible with the XTI as an off-camera flash? or should i just use it as a paper weight. thanks

The T-20 is a TTL SLR flash and will not work with ETTL dSLR

Off camera, where the proprietary flash circuitry of Canon vs. Olympus does not matter, it can be used with your XTi as a manual power flash. Not sure if this flash has a built in photosensor for Auto mode, but if it does you can also use it as an Auto flash that controls its own output level based upon what is seen by the photosensor.

The T-20 does have a built in sensor and an auto mode.

It will work nicely on the XTi.

Enjoy! Lon

A simple PC cable is all you need, or a simple optical slave, or a radio slave all will allow remote usage with photosensor flash automation!
