Working with RAW is for "advanced users"... it's meant for people who want maximum control over their images and who are prepared to spend some time processing them on the computer. If you don't want to spend much time processing your images on your computer, maybe you'd better shoot in JPEG mode and set the contrast, saturation and sharpness parameters on the camera to get the results you want.
I don't know what camera you have, but you should have gotten software from Canon with your camera to work with RAW images: probably Canon File Viewer Utility (FVU), EOS Viewer Utility (EVU) or Digital Photo Professional (DPP). These are all quite easy to use: navigate to the folder on your harddisk that contains the RAW images, select the ones you want to convert and click a button (or choose a command from the menu).
Of the three Canon utilities, DPP gives you the most controls to adjust brightness, sharpness, white balance, colour etc.
Well-known alternative programs for converting RAW images are Capture One (http://www.c1dslr.com), BreezeBrowser (http://www.breezesys.com) and Bibble (http://www.bibblelabs.com), but I don't think any of these are much easier to use than Canon's utilities. You can download trial versions of all these programs to find out which one works best for you.
Maybe you should explain in more detail what problems you have exactly with processing your RAW images, so that we can provide you with a more specific answer.

What about the software "Digital Photo Professional" which comes with the Canon camera? The latest version has been much improved.
Otherwise there are Photoshop CS and Breezebrowser and Capture One and ...
Does this help?
Best regards,
J.

If you don't already have Photoshop get yourself Photoshop Elements 3. You can adjust temperature, tint, exposure, shadows, brightness, contrast, saturation, sharpness, luminance smoothing and color noise reduction all in the raw format.

Photoshop CS with the integrated Adobe Camera Raw has become my main means of working with Raw files. If you read Real World Adobe Camera Raw by Bruce Frasier, it makes it easier. I've read that the latest version, 2.4 has addressed the color issues that kept many people from switching from other programs. I used to use BreezeBrowser but no longer.

I have to go with Scott. Use either Adobe PS Elements 3 or PS Creative suite and Adobe camera raw. It gives pretty decent results and in my opinion is the easiest to work with.
