Hi All,
The first is a robber fly that posed for me this morning - just one shot before flitting off. I was trying a home-made flash diffuser which seemed to reduce the amount of blown highlights I normally suffer.
I liked the contrast of the ant foraging among the flower buds.
C & C welcome.

Nice detail on the Robber fly..shame the eye is not sharp though. I like the composition of the ant photo although I'd probably crop the right side a little. Looks like the diffuser works very well...care to share details of the diffuser?...also, what lens are you using?
Cheers!

Thanks for the comments Guys:D. I've reposted below the robber fly with a bit of selective sharpening on the eye (can't really save what's not there of course), and recropped the ant shot.
Paul, the diffuser I made up to fit over my 580exII speedlite was pretty crude. Just a cylindrical white plastic washing powder container about 10cm diameter. I cut off one end on an angle to expose more diffusing area and to slant it downwards. I covered the end with that thin white foam flexible sheet that you get in packing. Cut a hole at the other end to fit the 580 and voila;)
I'm not entirely happy with it so will probably experiment aorund a bit with other option.
The lens I'm using is the Canon 100mm F2.8, but here I had a Kenko 20mm ext tube in play.
cheers,
