Greetings!

I just recently purchased my 20D and am a nature lover at heart.

I plan to purchase 1 of the following macro lenses:

Canon 180
Sigma 180
Tamron 180

I'm going after this length because I plan to take photos of insects, not really into plant photography AS MUCH.

Sigma 180 - i know it's sharp, my only hesitation is compatibility with 20D and i hear bokeh not too great? but with digital editing know-how, a little digital magic can fix that..

Tamron 180 - my hesitation here is i can hardly find anyone that owns it! ;-)

Canon 180 - hesitatant only because of price.

I would appreciate any users of the above lenses could give me their opinion, advice, info when using the above lenses with 20D.

Not worried about auto focus, i've been to pbas.com and seen images on all the lenses and sharpness doesnt seem to be much of an issue.

Contrast does concern me also.

Thanks in advance for your help, have a great one!
-Paul

I use the Canon 180mm f/3.5L. At the beginning I was debating weither to get the Tamron 180mm f/3.5. However after using the Canon 180mm never regret it. Built like a tank, weight like a tank! Image quality is superb. Price? What's another 1k???

Were I going to go longer than the Canon 100mm,. I would be looking to the New Sigma 150mm.. it is an EX and has HSM focus,. and is getting rave reviews.

As it is,. I am happy with the 100mm
