Went on a holiday recently to Soneva Gili in the Maldives. A fantastic resort (6* apparently) and we loved every minute of it. The stay was by courtesy of a friend who works there (at US$ 1,300 per night for a basic villa I have no chance of affording it :))

Just a few shots that I got there. Comments and criticism much appreciated.

This is at Male airport - one of the piers

I like the last shot of one palm island best...

How long before all the island is underwater.

Last time i was at The Hilton in the Maldives they had a boat pumping sand out the sea on to the beach to keep the island out of the sea. With the effects of global warming it will be gone a few years ;(

Thanks Clive. They were doing the same thing - pumping sand from the sea bed to the beach on some areas of the island. Some are predicting a few of the smaller islands to disappear 10-15 years time :(

Beautiful shots of a place I would love to visit, but could never afford to. The lonely palm tree shots are so peaceful.

Indeed - In a few years I might be able to sell these pictures as the "Lost Islands of Maldives" and fund my retirement account :)

Thanks - I wish everyone could go there - its a great place for relaxation.
