Took this the other night while my little boy was having some tummy time!
Was wondering if those of you who have the nifty 50 have done similar shots and had the clarity come out any better. I have been struggling with MF on some shots to have his eyes really sharp. (using the EF-S 18-55 kit lens). Still warring with myself over buying the 50 - I know, I know, just buy it!!!:)

What a great shot no matter the lens. Buy the lens, of course easy for me to spend your money.

I've taken similar shots (with older children, though) and it turned out just fine. The nifty is a sharp little lens... probably the sharpest in my bag out of the 4 lenses I've ever owned.

I went one step up over the nifty 50, to the 50 f1.4, and love it. Sometimes you get sucked into that in low light and end up with no DOF, but it is a nice fast piece of glass.

Thanks so much for your input on the 50mm. So it works great in low light conditions? This picture was taken in pretty low light in my LR the other night.
