Now that the Archive has its own section we need to have some rules to new postings. This section is designed specifically for Archive threads only. Use the lens section for all other lens related activity.

Please make sure when starting a new Archive thread that you go through the list here (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=141406) to avoid duplicate threads.

When a new lens is released (that means on sale in stores, not just an announcement) an Archive thread may be started IF it starts with Photos!

Please PM me so that I can add the lens and link to the Sticky, just like before.

Also PM me if there is a thread that is missing from the list.

Recently I have noticed that the archive threads have had a few posts about people trying to sell a lens. Use the Marketplace for that. Any post containing such will be edited or deleted. If you notice a post containing a for sale comment please report it to the moderators using the report post icon http://photography-on-the.net/forum/images/buttons/report.gif.

And try to keep the chatter to a minimum.
We have an entire forum dedicated to the discussion of lenses and their merits, this forum is dedicated to the Image Samples!
Don't start a thread here for discussion. Start a thread with images.

Please use the following template / naming standard for your thread titles.

It is important that this standard system be used so that relevant searches work well.
Include the following please;

Brand Name | Focal length/range | f/stop | Additional info

Example, Title for a prime;
Canon EF 300mm f/2.8L IS

Zooms;
SIGMA 120-300mm f/2.8 EX HSM

The single most important thing to do, is to input the focal length range exactly as shown
There MUST be space before and after the Focal range.
There must "mm" at the end of the Focal length, with no space in between.

300mm not 300 mm

The most common search term is for focal length.
Aperture should be written as an f/stop f/4 with the slash.

Thanks.
