cliffs :

I'm a newbie when it comes to dSLR and photography in general. I recently purchased an Rebel XSi kit, although I had my eyes on 40D I convinced myself that later down the road the upgrade bug will bite me and crawl up to my wallet and snag a 50D or 5DMkII down the road, so here I am learning all I can with this camera and so far I'm enjoying every bit of it...

so here is my first experimental shot.. let me know what you guys think C&C is appreciated..

The close-up of the dog looks a little back-focused. I would like to see the eye a little sharper. What kind of dog is that, anyway?

I like the first ring shot better than the second. The gray tone of the second isn't as warm. I've had some fun doing still life shots in very low light, using a tripod for the camera, extended exposures, and a pen-light as the sole light source. Probably not the "right" way to do it, but it's been fun. Here are a couple examples, which I've posted in another thread previously.
