have i gone too far

I have a customer that wants her daughter to look like a fairy.

So ive been messing around on cs3 with wings tell me what you i think, the pics are just basic ones but its the wings im interested about how do they look?

Have i done it too much?

IMO, yes..they just seem as though they have been painted on the wall. They have some fairy wing brushes available for download. Have you tried any of them? I would also like to add that for a subject so little that those wings seem a bit overwhelming.

thanks david ill try them theres a photographer in the next town who offers pictures where basicaly its a fairy template then the childs face pasted over the top people are going mad for em round here but he is very unrealiable.

You're welcome. I don't know why a parent would want the child's face pasted onto someone who isn't there child, but eh..their the ones who pay your bills..have you tried to cut their child out and paste her on a mushroom or in some type of forest? I think that might add to the effect you are trying to achieve.

If you're good with masking and are able to cut someone out of a picture I'd think something like this would be perfect. With the child sitting on the rock with fairy wings.

Like it, but the scale is too large for the subject..

I'd spend some time with the transform tools to make the wings less 'square'. Especially the 2nd image, where she is slightly turned away from the camera.

Other than that, they're totally plausible!

well since you ASKED =) I like poses in all of them =)
#1 is a bit overexposed...her white outfit is very blowen away with light
#2 is better
BOTH PHOTOS: you lost the shaddow under her...it looks like they aer in the air floating..and the wings are just too much..they really look fake kinda...
The baby is WAY TOO CUTE and wings are just distracting from her .. just my 2 cents.

I know the wings aren't your idea- but they look terrible...if the parent wanted her child to look like a fairy why didn't she bring wings in to actually put on her...I don't get it at all.

Guys theses where only crap photos i did mention this in my original post, they was took when she first got there to get her relax i know the first is over exposed because i hadnt set the lights up i just wanted the general oppinion of the wings but thanks again to all.

the 2 pics where the only 2 i converted to jpeg all the rest are still raw files, i will be working on the rest over the weekend and i will let you know the results.
