Only so much you can do without lighting...

Good job for the circumstances.
If you'd bounced the flash off something to your right, you would have had a bit better illumination of the faces though.

Look pretty good considering the conditions. IMO, dark is not always bad, it sets a mood. Dark is only bad if actual conditions were much brighter than in your photos.

what are the light setup that you have? I like the 'isolation' of subject by directing the light.
