Hi all, a few weeks ago a friend of mine asked me to photograph his pet rabbit. However, the thing was so darned fluffy that it was difficult to get it to focus on him, even manually, because I could not tell through the viewfinder if he was in focus or out of focus. How would you deal with this problem?

His eyes are not fluffy, right? :) Focus on the eyes. Or other option is to create more contrast on fur e.g. by strong side light. If all else fails, put some item that you can easily focus on, to same distance as the rabbit next to him - focus to object and recompose.

Ooh normally I'm just a dedicated viewer and not a poster but in this case I had to respond! I am a bunny fanatic and my bunnies are my favorite thing to photograph. As far as focus goes, really just focus on the eyes if you can. I use autofocus because it takes too long for me to do it manually. Bunnies are notoriously fast and they don't really sit still for very long so snap away and get what you can. Here are my buns :D

Yep. Focus on the eyes (or the nose, if you've composed the image so it's in the same plane).

Wow those are really nice shots of the rabbits! And the second one is even more wow since you somehow managed a shot with the 50 at iso200.
My rabbit is dark gray, I think he throws the camera off by making it seem darker than it really is. Sometimes I crank up the ISO other times I use the much disliked flash... either way the flash makes him move, the focus sound makes him move, the shutter sound makes him move...

Its noisy, has a bit of motion blur, but the only time I caught him doing that.
