Really nice!
Might want to contribute a couple of these to the 11-16 archive. Pretty ringing endorsement for this lens!
(Good shooter behind it doesn't hurt either!) ;)

#1 The Trop is just stunning (shot, not to stay in--place is YUK), however as with alot of Vegas shots, including most of my own, those darn power lines just get every where, not your fault! They really do get in the way of a lot of real great Strip shots, can't they bury the flaming things underground!
Now I want one of these bits of glass!!!
Well donne, love the shots, love Vegas!!

thanks matty, yeah i could actually clone out those power lines, that one from the trop was actually my favorite too.

Very nice series Don.
Image #1 is outstanding but those power lines are just killing me.
I think you just sold me a Tokina 11-16 :D.

I've seen a lot of Vegas strip shots but those first 2 really stand out somehow (not to take anything away from the rest though). That top image is the kind of print I'd buy for my office (if I had an office....and money to buy artwork for it :( ). Maybe it's being a bit of a Canon snob but I never thought too highly of Tokina glass (although I'd buy a Sigma lens without hesitation, having used most of their line) but now I think that perception is shifting a bit, great captures.

Not to hijack too much here DonJM
But where in Vegas do you shop for "glass" in particular Sigma or Tokina?? I'm coming there mid December and may just make a purchase. Those so called cam-shops on the strip are just a rip, no prices, they make them up as they go along!!

matt, i go to a place called Caseys Camera, its actually not too far from the strip. They have Tamron and Sigma and a bunch of 'L' lenses but usually i buy my lenses off amazon.com, because i get it a lot cheaper there, but as you are from england you still pay way more than what we do here. I just looked on Amazon.com the Tokina 11-16 is 560 dollars and on Amazon.co.uk its 400 pounds, which is 688 dollars so your still paying more if you buy it in england.

what hotel are you staying in

I'm in Wynn 18 Dec then Main Street Stn D/T for the next 2 nights.
My Wynn stay is potentailly free, got an offer of $119 for the night with $150 slot play, but the potential on that slot play (if I add $50) is to recoup $194 cash.
By playing a Roulette slot, 3 spins of $35 on Red $35 on Black and $2 on 0 (no 00 on machine)
That returns a guaranteed $194. = Free stay plus $13 cash :)
It's gonna be more than a quick gambling trip. Flying out to Chicago, o/nighting--Fly to Reno stay in Lake Tahoe for 2 nights, then spend 2 days driving down Sierra Nevada to Lone pine then across death Valley to Vegas for 3 nights and back via Chicago.
Photography, gambling and free beer, what could be better :)
