Just got my 420EX yesterday. I ordered this one instead of the 550 EX. Reason being, that I spoke to a salesman who was not on commission and he said in his opinion that the 550EX was overkill for the D60.
When I shot a few shots with it in the D60 full auto mode, and then shot the same scene without the 420EX, the photos with the camera's built in flash looked brighter.
However, after speaking to a Canon tech today, I learned that the camera's built in flash is a fill flash, not as accurate as the 420EX. What I thought was brighter, was instead slightly overexposed.
The 420 EX is a breeze to operate. Beware, that nickel metal hydrate batteries do not last as long nor do they allow the unit to reset for the next shot as quickly as your good old alkaline batteries. By the way, I bought it at etronics.com for $179.
Tomorrow I will report on the TC-80N3 remote unit. wonderful also...
