The icons on the mode dial on my S50 are wearing off. When I contacted Canon about it they said that the only solution was to purchase a new mode dial. When I called them they told me I needed two different dails and a special piece of double stick tape. I ordered the parts and they arrived yesterday with no instructions on how to replace the old dial with them. The two dials are almost alike, except on of them has a recess for some type of plate that has the actual icons on it. The other dial is complete with the icoms on top, do I don't think I really need the other dial.

My problem is I don't know how to get the old dial off so I can put the new one on and don't want to just start prying it off as I paid a lot of money for the camera and don't want to ruin it. I really like this camera a lotm and the mode dial is my only complaint. Does anyone have instructions on how to replace the dial?

The dial is screwed from the inside and you have to take the camera apart for replacement! it's a pretty dificult job to do!

ive taken the s50 apart before. its easy (way easy compared to an slr)

make sure to use a crosspoint (japanese) screwdriver, and not a phillips.
