Nice pic, nice dog.
I wish my black labrador would pose - if I point the camera at her she comes to investigate - and to lick (often shortly after eating horse dung during her walk!).
I have great problems trying to photograph her coat - without flash it is completely black and with flash it is silver/black, contrasty and unrealistic. I think you've got your dogs coat texture very well
