Well the wide angle is fun to play with, and the filters do wonders outside, at least looking outside, its still raining like crazy here. So I took some "test" shots enjoy

Congrats on the new camera. You should get yourself a grip if you havent already.

Which wide angle lens is that, and what did it cost you?

Thanks for posting the nice samples of all the variables. I have this lens, and the telephoto and several Canon closeup lenses. Just havent had any time to play with any of them for the past several months. A lot of good stuff wasting away but your pics are motivating me to try them.

yeah they are def. worth the investment, I think I will get a flash next then the telephoto. I don't have any good subjects for the macro lens at the moment.

I just got the Canon WA lens this week too. I went down town take a few pictures with it around 8 AM to catch the rising sun, and was quite pleased with the results. Here's a few samples to give you some ideas when you can finally get out.

and, finally, here's a macro shot I tried at home in our garden;

I also have the Canon tele lens, but I think I'm going to enjoy this new WA lens for a while. The fall colors are really beginning to come alive here, so I'm looking for opportunities to get some shots with this lens.

enjoy yours too,
Dennis

Mastertech01, thanks.

I think this WA lens is going to be my favorite for a while. I'm pleased with the image quality so far, but it's been a long time since I've use a wide angle lens, so I need to rethink how to use it best. My first attempts have been better than I expected in the image department.

I can see where this may lead to my being required to purchase the 430EX or 430EX II next. The lens is SO large, that the built-in flash is almost totally blocked. However, I knew that would be an issue, as it is with the tele lens.

I was concerned also with carrying both the lenses, the adapter (only got one), and my Ultra-pod II with me and the camera. As it turns out, both the lenses fit in the large front pocket of my fanny pack, while the UPII and adapter tube fit in the rear pocket without causing any bulges. I'm able to continue with the previous kit setup - fanny pack with accessories, and G9 in a small belt bag. :-) I'm happy.

yeah the WA is large. I am surprised at how heavy it is, it weight more then the camera (at least close enough to it). but it feels like top quality. I don't think I will carry the WA everywhere, but the adapter and filters I think are going to make me start carrying the G9 all the time.

Edit:
Macro 100% crops, I got as close as I could with zoom and/or real distance. Yes the focus points are a little off but that was the best I could get with the non-filter. I am mainly showing the magnification of the filter

You folks will love the 430EX but if you need a little economizing the 420EX has worked great for me to get around the large sized lenses and filters. It tilts and swivels like the 430EX and only slightly less powerful. No LCD display on the back though but if you do some creative shopping you can find the 420EX for 125.00 or less.
